Indie Film Network SnagFilms Teams with Icreon Tech to Stream Videos and Connect Audiences on Mobile Devices

SnagFilms App for iOS offers 300-plus films; Daily Installs Have Tripled and Retention Increased 36%

New York, NY (April, 24, 2013) – Icreon Tech, a global IT consulting firm, today announced the successful implementation and use of a new iOS app for SnagFilms, a website which offers the broadest collection of independent films on demand to viewers. The SnagFilms app for iPhone and iPad, released in 2011, now offers more than 300 independent documentaries and films available for audiences to stream on their mobile devices for free.

Icreon Tech rebuilt the existing SnagFilms iPhone and iPad apps to enable viewers to stream their library of content through their mobile devices. Specifically, Icreon Tech focused on driving an improved user experience for SnagFilms and the results have been stellar. In the first thirty days of its launch, visits to the mobile app were up 104% compared to the previous month.

New features included the ability to browse through the entire SnagFilms library using a category search function, Facebook integration to allow for a more personalized app experience, a queue to save films for later viewing, a unique discovery and recommendation engine, and a custom interface as well as several unique touch gestures.

"SnagFilms had established itself as a premier destination to watch free independent movies online, but we wanted to increase our presence on the mobile front," says Manik Bambha, CTO of SnagFilms. "Streaming video is not just for mainstream networks and production companies, but it's a viable channel for distributing content regardless of funding or studio backing. Working with Icreon Tech, we were able to provide better quality streaming videos, a place for Indie film fans to connect and ultimately an improved user experience so they keep coming back to the site and the app."

The revamped apps were well-received by the film community:

  • Daily Average Install more than tripled
  • Average time on app is up 31% compared to the previous version.
  • User retention increased 36%
  • SnagFilms for iPad is among the Top 200 Free Entertainment iPad Apps in iTunes
  • Gizmodo has named SnagFilms as a "Best iPad App"

"As mobile devices have improved in speed and screen resolution, streaming video services have become a viable channel for content distribution, and SnagFilms deserved an app that showcased their content beautifully," said Himanshu Sareen CEO of Icreon Tech. "When we collaborated with SnagFilms to develop their iOS platform we were able to give users a unique experience that integrated mobile and social while delivering the enhanced functionality that viewers expect."

Icreon Tech and Net Texts, Inc. Partner on Android-Based Open Education Tablet App

App Brings Education to the Digital Age, Offering Education Resources and Interactive Learning on Tablets

NEW YORK, NY – March 18,2013 – Icreon Tech, an IT consulting firm in New York City, today announced that it has completed development on the Android platform for Net Texts, Inc., an open education tablet app available in the Apple App Store, and now, the Google Play Store. Net Texts is used across the United States as an essential classroom tool and text book replacement option in K-12 schools. The app is currently being evaluated for adoption throughout schools in New Jersey, Georgia and South Carolina.

Icreon Tech and Net Texts collaborated to develop an education app for students and teachers, enabling learning through the use of technology like never before. Using Net Texts on tablet computers, students can access course materials that are extracted from various online open education resources and contributors such as Khan Academy and the Gilder Lehrman Institute.

Teachers also benefit, as they are equipped with a separate web application aside from the app. Net Text’s back-end web access allows teachers to customize course materials for specific classes and share lesson packages with other educators. For example, while reading a PDF about the Gettysburg Address, students can also view a slideshow of Civil War photos suggested by their teacher.

Since launching a pilot program in 2011 with six schools in Atlanta, Georgia, the app has skyrocketed in popularity and is now used across the country. Net Texts and Icreon Tech recently extended the app to the Android platform to give schools, students and teachers alike greater choice in devices used for learning.

"Incorporating interactive rich media content functionality, offline capabilities and easy course updating were key objectives for Net Texts. Without those functions, the app would not be as effective for teachers in a classroom setting," said Sandeep Sawhney, CTO at Icreon Tech. “The content management system grants teachers the ability to deliver customized courses supplemented by multimedia, creating a 360 degree solution for 21st century education."

Net Texts' development on the Android platform marks the second time the company and Icreon Tech have partnered together. During the initial iPad development and updates to Net Texts, Icreon Tech incorporated features that enabled simultaneous audio and video play while viewing PDFs. The company also added additional functionality within the app to create customized interactive tests for students. The Android version also comes equipped with these features and is available for download here: Net-Texts.com.

New York, NY – February 20, 2013 – Icreon Tech, a global IT services provider, today announced top trends in enterprise mobility driving real business productivity. Enterprise mobility goes beyond everyday consumer apps on the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store. These line-of-business mobile apps are integrated into pre-existing enterprise infrastructures and will become essential to mobile workforces globally in 2013.

"Leaping into mobile is a serious decision. It is one more asset that has to be managed as part of your business strategy," said Himanshu Sareen, CEO of Icreon Tech. "The demand for enterprise mobility solutions is skyrocketing, and knowing that the trend towards mobility will only accelerate over the near future, the question is – where do you start?"

While enterprise apps serve little use to everyday consumers, they are invaluable to the unique workflows of enterprise settings. From international corporations to small businesses, enterprise mobility brings portability to digital business processes, providing employees in the field constant access to data.

Mobile salesforces and employees in-the-field are expanding beyond the realm of generic PDF readers and email apps on their smartphones and tablets. New trends in enterprise mobility include mission critical processes such as:

  • Digital signature capturing
  • Payment processing
  • Inventory management
  • Realtime business analytics

"We're seeing a big increase in important business functions being completely mobilized in order to improve business productivity in various industries – these devices have gone from tinkertoys to thoroughbred tools in the office place," said Nikki Garg, COO of Icreon Tech. "In fact, half of all mobile applications developed by Icreon last year were never released on an App Store – they were developed internally for highly specialized enterprise environments."

The combination of a growing familiarity with mobile in the workplace and better hardware and software solutions has created new opportunities for enterprises to complete businesses processes; integrate with legacy databases and pre-existing IT infrastructures; and revolutionize the way work gets done.

Icreon, a global IT services provider, today announced a major upgrade to its corporate website, http://icreon.com, implementing responsive web design, a cutting edge development approach that will grow exponentially in 2013.

Billions of consumers and businesses heavily rely on smartphones and tablets to access the web. Responsive web design ensures that a clean web presence is consistent across all devices. In the future, as computers come in more sizes, dimensions, and proportions, responsive web design will further embed itself as the de facto standard for most websites across the Internet.

For http://icreon.com, this upgrade ensures the long-term longevity of the site, regardless of the device being used to view the content.

The original revamp of the site occurred in September 2012. It was completely rebuilt from the ground up, utilizing Drupal 7.x as the backbone of the system. Icreon, which has created dozens of mobile apps, mobile ready websites, and responsive sites, used years of experience to guide the choice for Drupal in 2012. The website utilizes a framework called Susy, used to make the shift to responsive web design more manageable for developers. Susy uses the CSS extension SASS, which makes it easier to manage the look and feel of the website across devices.

"Ultimately, one of the biggest reasons we went Drupal was because we knew how friendly it was for responsive web design," says Icreon Tech's COO, Devanshi Garg." Because responsive web design is an important part of our 2013 roadmap, we knew it was the smart choice to make."

Icreon's US subsidiary, Icreon Tech, managed the release of the new responsive site, proving that reverse outsourcing can be a valuable approach to business. The company, which has major offices in India, the UK and the US has utilized reverse outsourcing for years to create better value for each and every client.

Icreon Tech (www.icreon.us), a global IT services provider, today released its top 10 predictions for technology trends in 2013 that are expected to drive innovation and influence decision-making around IT spending.

"Technological advances that connect the digital and physical world will make 2013 the year of integration," said Himanshu Sareen, CEO of Icreon Tech. "From the integration of fragmented IT systems to all encompassing smartphones and smart televisions, in 2013, technology will keep the heavy lifting confined to the backend and enable incredible intuitiveness, simplicity and seamlessness for users."

Top 10 trends for 2013 include:
Internet of Things: In 2013, the physical and digital worlds will fuse. From the RFID tags on a runner's bib to the real time camera feed from traffic lights that informs driving routes, the physical world is becoming an information system. Icreon has been working on cutting edge apps and solutions for 2013 that are using IT to instill everyday "things" and gadgets with a flow of information and an overall sense of intelligence.

Formalization of "Agile-ish": Agile has been very popular but may not be applicable to organizations that are not solely focused on software product development and have limited resources to make the investments required to make Agile a success. Icreon predicts that a greater number of companies will turn to Agile-ish development, which is still iterative and collaborative but requires less ongoing support from the client.

IT's Human Side: There is no such thing as an IT project; there are only business projects that are enabled by IT. IT professionals are becoming more attentive than ever to business and the role end-users play in the ultimate success of the software. 2013 will involve businesses setting aside more time and budget, towards intangibles around IT; communication plans, continuous user training and implementation support.

Reverse Outsourcing: The early days of globalization triggered a mass movement of work eastwards. However, as the world truly becomes flat, the trend is less about jobs lost and instead about the new kinds of jobs being created. In 2013, Icreon anticipates the discourse of "offshoring" to be replaced by smarter “redistribution” of labor based on core capabilities and opportunities in market places.

All Encompassing Smartphones: As 2012 comes to a close, consumers are increasingly relying on their smartphones for just about everything. From researching purchasing decisions to mobile commerce, expect to see more brands start to innovate and cater to the needs of mobile audiences, both customers and staff, that allows for more seamless use and integration of smartphones into our daily lives.

Continuity Across Devices: With more users working across multiple devices, 2013 will see a move to provide the missing link in today's computing experience – the ability to pick up the session on a different device in exactly the same place you left off. Innovation will occur behind the scenes, to provide a continuous experience for users across call logs, text messages, notes and activities as they move from laptop to desktop, from tablet to mobiles.

Transformation of the Television: 2013 will continue to be a renaissance period for television content, but not because of cable network providers. Television will be increasingly connected to mainstream computing experiences rather than just isolated content-viewing sessions. The app-ification of curated media by innovative firms like Netflix and SnagFilms across devices such as Rokus, Boxees and tablets will further drive content delivery beyond traditional TV.

Niche Social Networks: Past social networks like MySpace, Orkut and Friendster were decimated by Facebook's domination. Today, however, Facebook's ubiquity has led to the proliferation of the niche social network. From photo and video sharing on Instagram and Vimeo, to music and theater lovers using Spotify and Playbill Memory Bank. In 2013, expect to see more custom networks that use Facebook’s login mechanism as a gateway to smaller, more focused social networks.

Content over Chrome: Skeuomorphism, the act of using physical textures, such as stitched leather, for no particular function, has become a principal on how not to design software. With Microsoft's Windows 8 and Google's Android operating systems as an indicator, in 2013 the user experience of software will be vastly different from years past. With solid colors, clean type and pure UI, avoiding the “noise” that comes with gradients, glossy buttons, and flashy banners.

Data Liberation in Government: Long crippled by red tape and black box processes - governments have been the place where great data went to die. However, with the adoption of sustainable standards, private enterprises and governments alike will be able to tap into a trove of valuable data to create exciting and technology-forward public services. As an IT partner for state governments, Icreon has witnessed this wave of technology innovation first hand.

Icreon, a global IT consulting and software development firm is excited to announce the launch of a new, updated corporate website.

The launch of this website is particularly interesting as it demonstrates Icreon's ability to truly traverse international borders. As an example of "reverse outsourcing", Icreon developed its new website using a truly global team; New York based designers and Europe based web developers. Traditional outsourcing has involved moving project delivery from higher wage to lower wage economies such as BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) as well as other South East Asian countries such as the Philippines.

Reverse outsourcing is symbolic of a truly global delivery process, where project delivery is flowing against the typical flow, where the labor arbitrage is no longer the central driving force and it truly becomes about locating the best talent for the job, no matter where they are, creating champion virtual teams. The new Icreon.com website has demonstrated reverse outsourcing also, where the company's New York office, that leads the marketing and communications functions for the global operations, and in this manner has mobilized a strong global team.

Icreon is a technology agnostic organization that believes in discovering business needs and mapping them to a fitting technology solution, rather than trying to force fit any specific technology solution to business requirements. This concept of technology agnosticism is further exemplified by Icreon's unique ability to look beyond boundaries, even allocating delivery teams based on talent—rather than location.

"Our decision to allow New York to lead the design and development of Icreon.com aligns perfectly with our business philosophy. We collaborate across borders and time zones, and the new Icreon.com is a testament to that," said Himanshu Sareen, CEO of Icreon. Anecdotally, he added "Even our developer who led the development of the site was based in Hamburg, Germany." The site was developed by Stefan Freudenberg, an internationally acclaimed Drupal 7 expert and co-author of The Definitive Guide to Drupal 7.

The new Icreon.com website emphasizes the work Icreon has completed for its clients since its inception twelve years ago. It features case studies categorized by industry, solution and technology used. The Icreon.com website better emphasizes the diverse work and clients Icreon has taken on over the years attracting future partners, clients and employees.

On a more technical note, the new Icreon.com website built on Drupal7, takes a modular approach that features a special WYSIWYG template, advanced search capabilities, and efficient page caching. The website successfully combines sophisticated technology with a sleek, modern design to make the website easy to use for both page viewers and the non-sophisticated marketing staff that updates it. As the company's global home, it successfully marries the culture of all three locations of the company: New York, London and New Delhi, and was designed to speak to audiences from all three countries. The Icreon.com website showcases Icreon's global expertise and understanding of how design meets technology and creates something worth sharing. Check it out today on http://www.icreon.com

Icreon Tech Inc. is proud to be a gold sponsor at the upcoming Drupal Design Camp Boston 2011, being held at the MIT Stata Center in Cambridge.

This is the Third Annual Drupal Conference dedicated solely to design innovation in Drupal solutions so as to ensure that Drupal sites are not only functionally superior but also look magnificent.

"Many organizations use Drupal for their publishing system and internal collaboration applications," said Umesh Joshi, Head Open Source Technologies. "But is the end-product designed and architected for the utility and behavior of the end-user? This is critical primarily because the solution should not act as a maze but help enhance the processes!"

Hence, the D4D Camp is important as we would get a chance to know how a great Drupal product can be created that boasts of both superior functionality and is also high on user experience - i.e. it has well designed user interface, is simple and intuitive to use, ensures ease of navigation, etc. - thereby leading to greater customer satisfaction."

Icreon at the event will join hundreds of developers and designers from a wide range of companies taking part in the premier Drupal event.
